Ouray, CO: Summer 1993

I spent a portion of the summer of 1993 in Crested Butte and Ouray, Colorado — partly because I like the mountains, and partly because I wanted to get away from the summer crowds back on the East Coast. Ouray is located in southwestern Colorado, on the other side of a mountain range from the more fashionable community of Telluride; it's a tiny town nestled among dozens of 14,000-foot mountain peaks, and was once a bustling center for silver mining. I took a day-long Jeep tour one day, and asked the tour guide to snap a few pictures of me with the Jeep when we were parked at the top of one of the mountains ...
